Seanash Home Halogenerator
Bring the therapeutic environment of a European salt cave into your home. Salt therapy has been used clinically across Eastern Europe for over 170 years. The Seanash halogenerator makes that same environment available at home, dispersing ultra-fine particles of pure sodium chloride into the air for you to breathe naturally during a 20-minute session or sleep with it in your bedroom.
The effects are felt quickly. Airways that feel congested begin to clear. Breathing that has been laboured eases. The mechanism is well understood, biologically coherent, and backed by decades of published research. This is not a wellness trend. It is a therapy with a serious history, now made accessible for daily home use.
How it works
The Seanash halogenerator grinds pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride into particles of no more than 5 microns, small enough to travel deep into the nasal passages, sinuses, throat, and upper bronchi. Once inhaled, three things happen:
- Mucus thins and begins to move. Salt is hygroscopic — it attracts moisture. Fine salt particles draw water into thickened airway secretions, thinning them so that the cilia lining your airways can clear them naturally. The result is a noticeable easing of congestion.
- The airway environment becomes less hospitable to bacteria.
Sodium chloride has well-established antimicrobial properties. Regular sessions support the natural bacterial balance of the mucosal surfaces of the respiratory tract.
- Airway inflammation is calmed. Salt aerosol has been shown to
reduce inflammatory markers in the airway environment, supporting more comfortable, easier breathing over time.
A brief history worth knowing
In 1843, a Polish physician named Feliks Boczkowski observed that workers in the salt mines of Wieliczka had remarkably healthy lungs compared to other miners. His observation was confirmed a century later when German civilians sheltering in salt caves during the Second World War emerged reporting improvements in longstanding respiratory conditions. By the 1980s, Russian pulmonologist Professor Alina Chervinskaya had developed the first halogenerator to replicate that environment artificially. Salt therapy has been practised clinically across Poland, Romania, Hungary, and Russia ever since.
The West was slow to engage — largely because pure sodium chloride cannot be patented, and therefore attracts limited pharmaceutical research funding.
The evidence base that does exist is consistent, the mechanism is well characterised, and the therapy is now increasingly recognised within integrative medicine.
Who this is for
The Seanash halogenerator is suited to anyone who wants to support their respiratory comfort and resilience as part of a considered daily wellness routine. It is particularly relevant for those who:
● Experience recurrent sinusitis, rhinitis, or seasonal nasal congestion
● Find respiratory infections settle frequently on the chest
● Manage ongoing respiratory conditions as part of a broader health programme
● Are recovering from a respiratory illness and want to support natural clearance
● Live or work in polluted urban environments and want to support airway health
● Simply want a daily ritual that supports breathing and sleep quality
This is a home wellness device. It is not a medical treatment and is not intended to replace prescribed medication or professional medical care. If you are managing a diagnosed respiratory condition, please continue to work with your physician.
How to use it
Place the device in the room where you spend the most time — a bedroom or living room works well. Switch on, sit within comfortable proximity, and breathe normally for 20 minutes. Sessions can be used daily or several times per week. I have it in my bedroom and use it only when I am asleep. The gentle hum of the machine is not irritating.
One important note on salt: use only pure sodium chloride. Himalayan pink salt, sea salt blends, and decorative salts contain trace minerals and moisture that can affect the device mechanism and are not used in any of the clinical research underpinning halotherapy. Pure NaCl is also considerably less expensive. We supply a starter quantity with every device and a spare to go with it so that you are stocked and ready to go.
